Eco-Schools who we are
The Girvan Academy Eco-schools committee is now up and running again. It aims to make the school and the surrounding community more eco-friendly by encouraging recycling, saving energy, and looking after the environment. The school currently has its bronze award and is working towards its silver award and eventually a green flag. It currently has 17 members ranging from first year all the way through to fifth and sixth years. Our first year pupils are Lauren Stevenson and Suzanne Oliphant. Second year pupils are, Praphatsara Tahtum, Amber Cook, Stuart Scholes and Daniel Fyfe. The third year members are Chloe Barr and Tamara Nichol. Our fourth year member is Dale Knowles. The senior pupils are, Jenna Hilliard, Amy Forte, Kerri Lindsay, Jay Taylor, Andrew Brown, Hannah Agnew, Shannon McAllister and Jack McClymont. The committee’s first project will be to collect and recycle old Christmas cards. It will be an inter-house competition and the house with the most cards recycled will receive house points. All cards must be handed in to the house boxes by the 14th January 2011.
